Certified Hazardous Materials / Hazardous Waste Training |
|
American Weather & Hydrology, LLC offers special training programs, following guidelines prescribed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), for the proper, safe handling of hazardous waste materials and other hazardous substances. These certified programs are taught by our Chief Environmental Scientist, Zane A. Stephens, or occasionally by Timothy E. Wright or another expert in the field of hazardous materials training. These programs are REQUIRED by OSHA and/or by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the employees of businesses involved with hazardous materials. Clients vary from small businesses with 2-3 candidate students to large corporations with several hundred employees needing to become certified in the program. The programs range from complete 40-hour hazardous waste operations courses to 4-hour confined-space training. Mr. Stephens organizes and presents the material in these courses in a highly interesting manner at all times. Courses offered include: HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations). 40-hour certification, accepted by OSHA. Includes hands-on field training. From 3 to 20 students. REQUIRED for those who handle hazardous materials. Supervisor Training. 8-hour course. REQUIRED for supervisors of those taking the 40-hour certification training. For 3 or more students. Confined space training. 4- to 8-hour course. REQUIRED for anyone before he or she works in confined spaces that may contain hazardous materials. 3 hours of lecture and discussion; 1 hour tripod and harness training. (Harnesses, monitored by a second individual, required for anyone working in a confined space having any possibility of hazardous materials.) For 20-30 students.
HAZWOPER. 24-hour program for those not actually handling hazardous materials. From 3 to 20 students. REQUIRED for those in businesses involved with hazardous materials. Refresher. 8-hour class, REQUIRED ANNUALLY for those who have taken either HAZWOPER course. 20 to 30 students. Awareness. 8-hour hazardous awareness class, conducted in a single day, for those requiring basic awareness of hazardous materials. From 20 to 30 students. Most training courses are administered by American Weather & Hydrology, LLC. Some courses in California are administered by California Weather & Earth Sciences, LLC.
